What exactly is red light therapy?
Maybe you've seen the glowing red light masks on social media and wondered what they actually do. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode — it's a non-invasive treatment using red or near-infrared light, sometimes called photobiomodulation, that stimulates biological processes at the cellular level: pain relief, reduced inflammation, and faster healing, among others.
At RosieGlow, we use red light to treat acne, signs of aging like wrinkles, sun damage, brown pigmentation, and scarring. Our panel is professional-strength — 1,800 bulbs at the precise 660nm wavelength, well beyond what any at-home device can offer.
What are the benefits?
- Smooths fine lines and wrinkles
- Reduces inflammation
- Reduces redness and blotchy tone
- Improves acne scars
- Prevents breakouts by targeting acne-causing bacteria
- Promotes circulation
- Stimulates collagen production
- Brightens skin
All of that, with zero recovery time. We can add LED light therapy into any facial, and our stronger professional panel means faster, more noticeable results than a smaller at-home device.
How does it work?
Your esthetician selects the right light for your specific concern. At RosieGlow we work exclusively with red light — it's the most-studied, safest wavelength across all skin tones and types. Red light builds and strengthens cellular structure, and is believed to calm the inflammation that drives chronic acne while also supporting the same collagen-building response that helps with fine lines.
What to expect, and how to prepare
LED light therapy comes after cleansing, exfoliation, and extractions — it's built into our Signature facial, and can be added onto any treatment. We'll give you dark goggles; the light is bright but not harmful. The treatment itself takes about 5 minutes, and it feels warm, meditative, and completely painless.
Prep is the same as any facial: skip aggressive exfoliation beforehand, wear SPF afterward, and avoid sweaty exercise right after your treatment. Your skin may look a little flushed immediately after, but that settles quickly, leaving you with a genuine glow.
